Howdy everyone! This song has been a long time coming. I first recorded it WAY back during spring break, but I didn't quite feel like it was ready, so I pigeonholed it and I've been reworking it this week. I was particularly really unsure whether I should put in the next-to-last verse. I wasn't sure it would fit with the feel of the song, especially with the very *cough* 'modern' language in it, but I decided to use it anyway.

It is a duet. Now, I'm not really a singer, which is why I usually ask our normal vocalist to sing my songs (she's GREAT isn't she), but this one required a male counterpart and I was the only one to fit the bill … so you get to hear my singing debut (no matter how painful), but it gave me some experience and a chance to try something new. It was fun and that's really the point right? I thought about using another female vocalist but my other resource is out of town for the summer. I kind of thought the part called for a male anyway and I opted out of verses sung by Luna in favor of a shorter song. I tried a different style of track cover art too…

The tune is the old song "McKinley's Gone." It is also known by the name "The White House Blues" and recounts the IRL assassination of the 25th president of The United States of America, William Mckinley, in 1901. I tried to keep the recounting-of-history-feel of the original song in my version. It's also the first time I've used clawhammer style banjo in a song.
